Turkey has 68 million people, 41% of whom live the countryside. The major cities are: Istanbul, Izmir, Adane, Antalya & Bursa.
ICEP; International Cultural Exchange Programs Scholarship Foundation welcomes au pairs between 18 - 29 from all over the world.
The following are specific details for the Au Pairs:
Length of stay:
A standard stay is from 3 and 12 months.
Health Insurance:
Free accident insurance, the program does not cover health insurance in Turkey. Each au pair is responsible for their own health insurance.
Travelling to Turkey:
Au Pairs flights to and from Turkey are not covered by the program. The au pair wil be welcomed at the airport by the Host Family.
Visa Requirements:
Visa requirements vary according to the au pair's home country. The necessary information regarding visa requirements will be given to the au pair upon their acceptance.
Once an au pair has submitted a full-file, the placement can take up at least up from two to eight weeks to complete.
Educational Options:
The Au Pair may choose to participate in one of the many languages and courses offered by the local University. Some courses may include, Turkish, German, French, Spainish, Russian and Arabic. In addition to these languages course some professional courses such as computers, typing etc. are also available.
Family Selection:
Each family is accepted to the program after being intervied and carefully inspected by the program consultants. The interview is conducted face-to-face in the family home.
Participating Countries:
Only participants from the following countries can be an au pair in Turkey. If your home country is not on the list see listed countries below).

Au Pair Duties:
The Au Pair is responsible for the following:-
- Child-caring, baby-sitting, and some light house work up to 25 to 30 hours per week.
- This work can include preparing meals for the children, feeding them, playing with them, taking them to the park, taking them to and from school, keeping their room tidy and washing and ironing theeir clothes.
- Au Pair may be asked to teach her native language to the family's children.
- The au pair may be asked to baby-sit 3 evenings per week.
- The au pair is not responsible for doing any kind of heavy housework. However, she is responsible for keeping the communal areas tidy and cleaning after herself.
- It is expected from the au pair to be aware of her responsibilities and to do the work properly.
- The program can place the au pair with another family upon her request if there is a reasonable problem.
- Au pairs are responsible for all their personal expenses while in their host family's home, such as telephone calls etc. (always ask beforehand the ccharges).
Host Family Responsibilty:
- The au pair should be welcomed and treated as a member of the family.
- The host family must provide a private room for the au pairs, with no sharing.
- The au pair should receive a minimum of 200 Euro a month pockey, depending on the au pair's working hours.
- The host family must provide 2 full days plus 4 evenings of free time per week to the au pair, as well as scheduled time off during the days.
- The host family will help the au pair to socialize, to become involved in cultural activities, to attend any educational courses available. The host family is also responsible for encouraging the above activities.
- The host family is responsible for providing the au pair two weeks holiday a year.
- If the au pair is exploited or mistreated in any way by the host family, the au pair will be removed and placed with another family. Thsi include situations where the host family did not pay the au pair, or reduced the au pair's pocket money, or the host family does or reduces the au pair's free-time. These actions are not permitted under this program.
