Au Pair Employment Information Spain

SPAIN

Au Pair Programme Spain

The  Au-Pair will work looking after the children of the host family. They will be treated as a member of the family and will receive full board and lodgings. They will also receive pocket money. The Au Pair will also help with light household tasks, such as vacuuming, making beds, etc.

Au Pairs receive one full free day per week as minimum.

The nationalities that the families prefer are Irish, English, German and French girls. Although we have families who sometimes request other nationalities.

Reality of the Programme

The following Au-Pair conditions are regulated by the “Youth Europe Council” and by Spanish Law of 1988.

To come to Spain as Au-Pair it is necessary to have an invitation letter from a host family and an up-to-date passport.

Host Families and the Au Pair normally correspond and exchange information prior to a placement. This is a vital part of the process and we recommend an inter exchange of the maximum amount of information you can before you came to Spain so that you can then have a very successful and pleasant experience.

AGE And Duration of Stay

In Spain people aged between 18 and 30 are permitted to work as Au Pairs. The permitted duration of stay is 6-12 months. In summer you can also apply for 2- 3 months.

Placements in August are always difficult because Spanish families use this month for holidays.

Knowledge of the Language

If you want to work as “Au-Pair” in Spain, you must have a basic knowledge of Spanish, so you will be able to have a phone call with the host family, and you could talk about your arrival date and duties, before you leave your own country, you must be able to express yourself in an emergency case.

Medical Insurance

All the “Au-Pairs” who came to Spain must have medical insurance for accidents and illness (E1 11). All European Countries have a Social Security, please take information yourself about it previous to your departure and make sure you are taking all the suitable documents with you.
